JOURNAL 1 - INTRODUCTION LETTER

My name is Asha Edwin-Kent. I was born, raised and educated in India except for three years when my family lived in Sri Lanka. I earned my Plant Sciences degrees in India. Later I moved to Western Samoa with my family where I taught high school reading and general sciences. I came to the United States and attended BYU in Provo, Utah.

My experience with computer technology has been limited. In the early 1980’s I used a Macintosh computer to enter information given by graduate students as a lab tech. I currently use a personal computer in the Cal State San Marcos Kellogg library to complete my home work. I use Word to prepare my papers for my credential classes and WebCT to turn in home work. I use the internet to conduct research and gather information for my papers. I enjoy working on my computer everyday.

What impressed me the most about the College Of Education mission statement was it’s commitment to student-centered education, diversity, collaboration and professionalism. I made my decision to attend California State University because the best teachers at my school are graduates of Cal State San Marcos and exemplify these qualities.

Hello Asha-
Your story is so interesting! I love reading about people with different backgrounds from my own. I was particularly interested by the diversity of your education, from Muslim schools to Brigham Young University! Did you feel isolated there? I grew up in an all protestant community, and I am Jewish. It was an interesting childhood!

I look forward to learning a lot about technology in this course. Hope to see you soon!

Hi, Asha
It is the third time I try to send this commitment to your blog and I hope this time I can manage it. Being a classmate and friend with you taught me a lot of thing for my life and I admire your sence of humanity.I have never met any person like you to be this much honest and helpfull to others even in the first day of meeting. If you don't mind I am going to introduce you to one of my other friend who is from India too because she is very nice too and her relatives are in India. She lives with her husbad and her five year old daugther. Good luck and thank you for everything.

I'm glad we get to enjoy another wonderful educ class together. Now that you've done the powerpoint assignment, do you see how easy I had it for out project :)

I had a good girl friend from College who grew up in Sri Lanka. I didn't know you lived there for a few years.

Thanks for telling me about this class and this great teacher!
